Michael Scott “MJ” Henderson Jr. of Abilene passed away January 22, 2024, at the age of 21. He was born June 8, 2002, in Abilene, the son of Michael S. Henderson Sr. and Lisa Lynn (Lowery) Henderson.
He graduated from Cooper High School in 2020. He never married and saved all his love for his mom. He worked in construction, and in his free time enjoyed writing music and rapping, playing his guitar, shooting guns, and fishing. He also enjoyed playing video games and just sitting in his car.
Everyone that met MJ loved him. There wasn’t anyone that met him that did not like him. He would always have you laughing at a moment’s notice. If you knew MJ, you knew that he loved the show Supernatural. He would watch it over and over again along with the Fast and Furious movies.
MJ is preceded in death by his father, Michael S. Henderson Sr.; grandmother Missy Lusk; grandfather Richard Lowery; aunt Nicole Henderson; and great-grandparents on both sides of his family.
He is survived by his mother, Lisa Henderson of Abilene; little sister Chancey Henderson of Abilene;little brother Tripp Henderson of Abilene; grandmother Shirley Loven of Abilene; grandfather Jeff (Connie) Love of Odessa; aunts Kimberley (Tom) Wallace of Marshall and Megan Lusk of Claremore, Oklahoma; uncle Justin Lowery of Abilene; cousins Nathan Lowery of Marshall, Patrick Brown of Abilene, Shawn Brown of Abilene, Kason Ordway of Abilene and Jade Lowery of Austin.
Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday, February 10, 2024, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church, 701 S. Pioneer Drive in Abilene, with funeral services to follow at 2:00 PM. Burial will be in Potosi Cemetery.
There will be a family gathering at 1426 Locust in Abilene at 12:00 PM Friday, February 9, 2024. All are welcome to come and eat and share stories about MJ.
MJ loved his family and friends and was loved in return. He will be greatly missed.
